Cincinnati Immigrant Mutual Aid
We are an independent group of volunteers throughout the Greater Cincinnati Area working in our free time to engage with our immigrant neighbors through mutual aid. We partner with other non-profit organizations and mutual aid groups in the area.
We aim to support safety for our immigrant neighbors in two ways:
1. Driving immigrants to and from appointments, events, and other errands
2. Delivering material aid to families to supplement the high cost of survival under an aggressive anti-immigrant administration.
Mutual Aid Model
Mutuality is a core belief in the service that we provide. The experiences of our immigrant families and of our volunteers are equally important. The relationships our volunteers form with our immigrant requestors are not transactional; they are based in the belief that everyone has something valuable to share, like knowledge, time, energy, or material goods.
To learn more about the Mutual Aid Model, we recommend reading Dean Spade’s Solidarity Not Charity.
